Superbeagle

Yesterday, Ti and I were playing in our basement. And now that Titus is a speed crawler (especially up the stairs), we have the baby gate locked into a strategic position at the bottom of the staircase. Well, as were hanging out having a grand ol' time, all of a sudden we hear a thunderous trotting and a loud "thump." It was Bailey (our 4 year old beagle). She had been napping on our main level (basking in the sun no doubt...dogs) when she apparently realized that she may be missing out on some fun (i.e. food). She decided the only way to get to the basement was to bound over the baby gate in it's full upright and locked position. Now you need to know that the baby gate is approx. 3 ft. tall, but from its position on the stairs we're talking 4-4 1/2 ft off the ground. Bailey literally flew down the stairs leapt over the baby gate and planted herself firmly against the wall adjacent to the stairs without sustaining any apparent injuries. Personally, I am amazed she had the moxie to attempt such a stunt. Bailey is usually a very laid back dog but when she wants something bad enough she does what it takes to achieve her goals. Mad props, pooch. Mad props.

  • Nothing but love and respect to Ms. B! I can relate. My Maggie is the same way -- indifferent until it has something to do with food or going somewhere. Then you can't get in her way!
