State Fair

Man I suck at blogging. I just keep putting posting off. Oh well. I'm sure the three of you who read this rag of a blog have been waiting for my latest post with eager anticipation. Stop holding your breath.

My family and I spent the day at the Minnesota State Fair today. Here are a few of the highlights:

#1-Cattle Barn. So we're walking through the cattle barn when a young man walks his prize cow past us. After passing us, we heard an unmistakable sound: the splattering of cow feces on pavement. What amazed me was the speed at which the young cowhand responded to the messy spatter. He quickly bent down and grabbed two handfuls of hay from a near by stall and covered the fresh foul mounds of bovine plop.

#2-Porkchop on a Stick. Our friend Naomi raved about this Fair treat so I had to give it a shot. One word: delicious. In recent months, I've cut waaaaay back on my intake of swine simply because pigs are filthy animals. But I made an exception because, what the hell, we're at the fair.

#3 - In the Goat Barn, my son pet his first goat and promptly stuck his fingers up it's nose. 'nuff said.

#4 - The Do. As we exited the bus at the fairgrounds, we walked past an amazing coif of hair. the gentleman had a neatly arranged blonde, feathered mullet. A thing of beauty.

I'll take my working a backward chronology here as a sign to call it a night. My feet are tired.

  • A pig is not a filthy animal. Bacon is good. Sausage is good. I've never heard of a pork chop on a stick but if such a thing existed in Beaumont, I'd weigh 450 lbs.

Was that the Boz with the Do? You know his twin nephews are freshmen at UCLA and playing linebacker.
