Lake Pokegama
On Monday and Tuesday, I went with some of our youth from our church to Lake Pokegama for an end of summer getaway a.k.a Doug and Shelley's "real" vacation. I had a great time even though I received a nasty sunburn from 3+ hours of exposure Tuesday morning and afternoon. Ouch, to say the least. Tubing was a blast, but watching the kids fly off the tube and kneeboard was even more entertaining. There's nothing like seeing a nimble teenager skid across the surface of the water at 30 mph. But if you asked them, they'd swear they were going 60 mph. After trying to explain the physics of friction and water at speeds exceeding 54 mph, they still remained unconvinced of their real speed. Ahh youth. After these two days, I have come to one undeniable conclusion: energy is lavished on the young...but I don't think they're aware of it.
